Abandoned Alabama

In 2014 I drove around Conecuh County to do a series on abandoned homes. Though each home is unique, they were all aged and lonely. Each structure has a story of the people that built, lived, and left it. Even still, when I look at them I often wonder about the people and why these buildings were left to rot.

A Snarling Dog In Chains

Dogs are very social animals and require plenty of interaction. Chaining your dog in one spot for a period of time can make your dog more prone to aggressive behavior. The practice of chaining and tethering is inhumane and in some areas of the United States completely prohibited.

In this photograph, I wanted to show the psychological, emotional, and behavioral effects of chaining and tethering without partaking in animal cruelty. In order to do so, I came up with the idea to pull up my dog's lip up as if she was doing so herself in an inimical manner. I also took a picture of chains hanging on a wall and edited it in a way that would surround her to symbolize the cause of her anger.
